A large market exists for the cardboard or plastic tubing commonly called cores in the reusable resources industry. Newsprint, food packaging, medical supply bags, plastic film, textiles—and more. Once the material is used up, the core is typically sent straight to a landfill, where it takes years to disintegrate due to its sturdy construction. Cardboard cores are prime recycling material because they are created from durable wood pulp fiber.
